Anniversary Compilation #1 – With Bach to Russia

Layout 1

Bach has always been here. Sven-David Sandström took care of the legacy. With 1947’s Laudi, Ingvar Lidholm breathed new life into the EEKK’s dormant vocal prowess, here in two versions fifty years apart. His student Daniel Börtz weaves modern choral poetry around Göran Sonnevi’s love poems. In the EEKK’s first recording from 1946, we can descry the little madrigal choir that rehearsed early on Monday mornings in Eric Ericson’s childhood home. Together with Fanny Hensel, née Mendelssohn, we repose in calm Romanticism. Finally, Maria Goundorina leads us through the Russian church arches to Rachmaninov.
